MELAKA PORT & INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT

Nortek Sdn Bhd sought to develop an area of about 400 hectares at Melaka by reclamation using hydraulic fill. The project master plan projected 280,000 tonnes of general cargo and 104,000 TEU’s of container traffic by the year 2005. The proposed port works also included a general cargo berth, container berth and dry bulk berth. HSS was responsible for formulating the overall master plan, undertaking project feasibility studies (including market surveys and traffic forecasts), carrying out economic evaluations of project options and environmental impact assessment.
