EXPANSION OF KUANTAN PORT INNER HARBOUR BASIN
HSS was engaged to study a proposal to expand the existing Kuantan Port by excavating a new inner harbour basin. The expansion would involve the excavation of approximately 15 million cubic metres of sand and clay to be disposed of in an offshore dumping ground. Suitable fill would be placed behind a constructed rock bund on the foreshore to create additional land for future port use. HSS conducted engineering studies for the proposed development. Engineering works covered surface infrastructure, roads, site drainage, dredging and excavation, inner basin shore protection, reclamation and rock bunds. The studies undertaken covered preliminary investigations, geotechnical assessments and the preparation of conceptual designs and costings.
