LEKIR BULK TERMINAL EXPANSION
Lekir Bulk Terminal Sdn Bhd (LBT) entered into a contract to provide a trans-shipment facility for iron ore from Brazil to China and South-East Asia. This required LBT to expand their current capaciity at the Lekir Terminal through the installation of new equipment for the import, storage, blending, trans-shipment and export of dry bulk material. The expansion of the terminal comprised extension of the existing jetty to provide two dedicated unloading berths and one dedicated loading berth and the provision of ship loading and unloading facilities on the extended jetty. In addition, the existing stockyard area required upgrading to handle the bulk material. HSS was engaged to evaluate tenders for the design and construction of jetty expansion and the material handling system.
