LRT SYSTEM 2, PACKAGE 1C, KERINCHI TO PASAR SENI

This project involved a detailed design of 14.1km long elevated viaduct covering a total route of 29km. For the first time in Malaysia, precast segmental box girder with external pre-stressing system was adopted for the viaduct superstructure. The elevated viaduct was constructed with about 8,000 precast segmental of various spans varying from 18m to 63m. Extensive standardization of detailing and dimensions were done to minimize variation and reduce casting times.

The substructure consisted of rectangular piers standardized for pier heights up to 18m in height. The foundations were all bored cast in-situ piles of 800mm to 2,000mm diameters. HSS was appointed as the detailed design consultant and the services included geotechnical study, structural, foundation and drainage design, costing, tender and contract documentation, traffic management, utility/services relocation and construction supervision.
