KUALA LUMPUR LIGHT RAPID TRANSIT STUDY
The 29km long Ampang to Kuala Lumpur Light Rapid Transit (LRT) system incorporates an elevated viaduct 14.1km long constructed with precast segments. Various technical reviews were undertaken by HSS at the time the LRT system was privatised. Studies examined ridership levels, station-to-station matrices, model split and travel time, as well as the size and location of stations. Financial revenues and fare structures were formulated by HSS to establish the requirements for the viable functioning of the LRT system. Specific inputs included traffic demand forecasts, formulation of fare structures and financial revenue analysis. This was the first LRT System Study in Malaysia.
