EXPRESS RAIL LINK, CICO – INTERMODALITY FACILITIES

Under a HSS-led joint venture team, studies were undertaken to define and appraise the concept of rail/air inter-modality for the Express Rail Link (ERL), a 56km express train service from KL Sentral Station to KL International Airport. The objective was to enable passengers to both check-in and check-out at KL Sentral Station. The joint venture was responsible for the development of the concept of efficient baggage transfers between the rail and air systems, together with identifying layouts and facilities for both terminal stations, including ticketing facilities. ERL has been recognised locally and internationally for providing consistently high standards and received the ISO Quality Management System certification. ERL has also received numerous awards at the prestigious Global Air-Rail Awards
