WEST PORT DEVELOPMENT

In 1992, HSS’s first project at Port Klang was awarded by the Port Klang Authority prior to the privatisation. Phase II of Westport involving the construction of six general cargo/container berths each 200m in length and capable of providing for a maximum vessel size of 80,000 tonnes displacement. This concept arose out of the original master plan which had provision for five multi-purpose berths, 18 general cargo/container berths, four liquid bulk berths and four dry bulk berths. The Port Klang Authority engaged HSS in a joint venture to formulate the overall engineering master plan, as well as to undertake the project feasibility study (including economic evaluation of project options) and develop the port privatisation concept.
