UNIVERSITI TEKNOLOGI PETRONAS, TRONOH
Universiti Teknologi Petronas is a Malaysian private university whose campus is built on 400 hectares of land at Seri Iskandar, Perak, 40km from Ipoh. The development is themed ‘the University in the Forest’. The university is a wholly owned subsidiary of Petronas, the national oil company of Malaysia. The university incorporates 23 academic blocks built around a crescent-shaped green park and an annexed ‘signature’ building housing the administration centre. Five residential blocks cater for the student accommodation. The new academic complex, with a target ultimate student roll of 6,600, was designed by Foster and Partners. HSS was engaged to provide engineering input for the infrastructure master plan and the detailed design and supervision. The design received an Aga Khan Award for Architecture in 2007.
